Full Text

A page that had been in his Danish Majesty's service, and had been promised a commission in the army, but neglected for a long time, at last found an opportunity of asking his Majesty for some post, when the King ordered him to go to the General, in his name, and desire him to give him a Lieutenancy. On his speaking to the General, he told him he had disposed of it; whereupon the page acquainted his Majesty therewith, who ordered him to come the next day, and in the mean time sent for the General, whom he severely reprimanded for disposing of places without his knowledge. The page waited on his Majesty according to his order, when his Majesty told him the place he had given him was disposed of; but instead of a Lieutenancy ordered him to mount guard next morning in the capacity of a Captain, in the presence of the General, whom his Majesty sent for, previous to the arrival of the page.
