Downey Stirs Up Ham-Egg Battle

LOS ANGELES, NOV. 7. (UP)-
Whether Sheridan Downey, Democratic candidate for United States senator, openly endorsed the $30 every Thursday pension plan today had his supporters and opponents engaged in a heated last day battle before tomorrow's election.

The Democratic nominee yesterday appeared before a mass meeting of 24,000 "ham and egg" pension plan advocates in Hollywood Bowl and made a brief talk.

The Los Angeles Times quoted "A stenographic report" of Downey's impromptu remarks which said, in part:

"I implore you to register your will and wish for human deliverance and the opportunity for youth for new hope-particularly for the retired citizens of America-will be yours if you will all vote for that great measure, proposition No. 25."
