Full Text

On Monday Morning early Mr. Philip Godby, a Master-Builder in the Little Minories, was found hanging in his Cellar with a Piece of a Jack Line. He was cut down immediately and a Surgeon let him Blood, but to no Purpose; and last Night the Coroner's Jury sat on his Body, and brought in their Verdict Lunacy.

The following extraordinary Circumstance attending this unhappy Person's Death, seems worthy of Remark. The Foreman to Mr. Godby having been disturb'd all Night with frightful Dreams, about Five o'Clock in the Morning he was let in by young Mr. Godby, who, on the Man asking him how all the Family did, answer'd him very well, to which the Foreman reply'd he was very glad, for he had been in terrible Agonies all the Night with Dreams. Whereat his young Master laugh'd. He then ask'd if his old Master was well, and was told yes; hereupon they went up, as usual, to call him, and missing him from his Chamber, they search'd about the House, and at length, to their great Surprize, he was found in the Cellar, in the Manner before describ'd.
