ONE BENEFIT OF THE WAR

Out of the maze of changing conditions, out of the stress and strife which has caused pain to many. out of the high prices of wages and necessities, will come certain improvements to stay. Many want the common sense days of 1914 but the days of 1914 will never return in all their particulars. As the result of higher wages many have learned to live under better conditions and this cannot readily be changed. The husband may become divorced from his silk shirt and the wife may get along without her silk skirt. but the bathtub and a few other things which mean cleaner and happier lives will stay. The ouija board may be reduced to kindling but the phonograph will be a source of comfort and enjoyment. As a result of the war some have found new luxuries which will become necessities and these will stay. Times will go back a little but not all the way to 1914, and improved conditions of living is one of the benefits of the war.
