Full Text

The N.Y. Plebeian, a paper high in authority with the Locofoco party, says:--If we had the privilege of defining the position of Mr. Clay on the Tariff, and he was compelled to adhere to that position, we would give him that which the Protectionists of the North and East are anxious that he should assume--that is, in favor of the present Tariff.

Again he says: The opinions of Gov. Polk do not require to be changed to meet contingencies. Whether the present Tariff brings $10,000,000 or $50,000,000 annually, HE IS OPPOSED TO IT.
