Full Text
The Polanders, to elude the Ordinance, and to brave the protection which was granted to Mademoiselle Philis by the authorities, took their places in two bands in the Theatre, and the moment this actress appeared, one half began sneezing and the other gaping. The noise was so loud and uninterrupted, that the manager was obliged to let drop the curtain. This idea, copied from the Barbier de Seville, appeared so little amusing to the Grand Duke Constantine, that 50 persons, civil and military, were apprehended the day after by his orders.
