The leadership in the Imperial county high school basketball league and possibly the loop championship will ride on the outcome of Friday night's battle matching Calexico and El Centro in El Centro gymnasium.
A preliminary game involving Bee squads from the two schools will be played at 7 o'clock, according to Coach Larry Hanson.
Calexico's defending champion basketball team will be slightly favored when the two teams take the floor but El Centro's familiarity with its "peewee" court may offset any advantage held by the Calexicans.
Both Coach Covington and Coach Hanson sent their charges through a long workout Monday afternoon to iron out weaknesses in offense and in defense.
The Bee game may also decide the league championship in that division because both Calexico and El Centro Bees are undefeated.
