The general election of the Officers of the State Government of Connecticut was held at Hartford. On counting the votes, it appeared that for the office of Governor,

His Excellency John Cotton Smith had 11,386
Scattering, Federal, 189

Hon. Oliver Wolcott had 10,170
Scattering, Democratic 14

Federal majority 1,391

Hon. Jonathan Ingersoll had a majority of 1,453 for the office of Lieutenant Governor. Mr. Smith and Mr. Ingersoll were thereupon declared duly elected, and on Friday the Governor met both Houses of the Legislature.
