Full Text
The late storm in Ohio, dreadful as it doubtless was, has been we believe, grossly exaggerated. We have seen a number of accounts of its ravages, in different papers, apparently got up to gratify the lovers of the marvellous, which we have not thought it expedient to publish. The Ravenna Courier of the 4th instant, says,
"We every day, hear some new account of the distressing effects of the late storm. In some places numerous dwellings have been blown down, and their inhabitants seriously injured by their fall—barns have been prostrated—cattle have been killed and in many places, orchards, timber, fences, &c. have been entirely destroyed. There is scarcely a farm within its range that does not, more or less, exhibit its destructive influence. We never before heard of a storm, covering such an extent of country, and of so short a duration, whose course has been marked by effects of so ruinous desolation."
