Plan to Acquire Terrace Machine

Resolution Passed At Meeting Monday Evening Ask Special Board Meeting.

Those attending the terracing demonstration at the Luke May farm Thursday expressed themselves as approving the purchase of equipment to carry this work on in Gadsden county and at a meeting, held in the county agent's office Monday evening, a resolution was passed requesting the board of county commissioners to hold a special meeting to make some disposition of the matter.

It is proposed that a tractor, excavator and truck, for the purpose of moving the equipment from farm to farm, be purchased. Each land owner would be assessed for the work done on his place to apply toward paying the cost of machinery, fuel and upkeep. As long as two years may be necessary to complete all terracing over the entire county.

As the winter months is the best time of the year to do this work, it is necessary to get the machinery working at an early date, it is pointed out.

The present plan is to ask the board of commissioners to underwrite the initial expenditure, anticipating that the project will in time pay itself out.

A crew of local men has been trained to run the terrace levels with instruments so that terraces may be built according to government specifications which will qualify the farm so terraced for a payment from the government to apply on expense of doing the work.
