Hurricane At St. Martins.—The brig Francis Jane, arrived at this port from St. Martins, Aug. 22d, reports that a severe hurricane occurred there, commencing on the night of the 17th, and continuing with great violence until 4 P. M., of the 18th. The barque Imogene, of Charleston, S. C., bound to New York, with 1,600 bbls. salt on board, was driven ashore on the rocks, capsized and filled, the crew having a narrow escape for their lives. No intelligence had been received from the Southern Windward Islands, and it was feared that the gale there had been very destructive.—Com. Adv.
