The Jackson Standard

The roads in this section are simply awful, and something should be done for our public highways. Your correspondent represents one of the largest manufacturing companies in America. My business has not been so good since the roads got bad, as it was before, and in explanation I wrote a description of some of our roads. I received the following remarks in reply:

"We regret that you live in such an unenterprising County. It is rather a bad stain on the fair name of the great State of Ohio, that she should at this late day have any County within her limits whose roads are but little improved over the Indian forest paths."

This is the way the outside world looks upon us. Where is the man, or set of men, who will move first in this very important work of improving our roads.
