HOLTVILLE, March 12.—Assistant County School Superintendent Mrs. John Kavanaugh and County Attendance Officer Mrs. Effie Swanson returned from their official visit to the Bard district Saturday. They visited the Andrade school on Arbor Day and heard a splendid program and assisted in the planting of trees. Then they visited the Bard school which is the largest over in the river district, consisting of four teachers. There they went over the papers of the school to see if it was up to the standard.
They also visited the schools of Winterhaven, Laguna and Ogilby, and reported them all in splendid condition. Coming back they found the roads in bad condition from the heavy winds, while they encountered no trouble themselves they saw several cars that had along the road. Mrs. Ira Feldman accompanied them on their trip in behalf of the W. C. T. U. of which she is county president. She made a visit to the Parent Teachers Association at Bard and other places. The three women showed considerable pluck to undertake the long desert drive all by themselves, but said they enjoyed it thoroughly.
