We understand, that the military court, ordered some time since, for the trials of colonel Cushing and lieutenant col. Sparks, of 2d reg't. of infantry, convened on the 16th ult. at Baton Rouge, and adjourned to meet the 18th, for the trial of lieut. col. Sparks, as col. Cushing had not arrived.
The court is composed of the following officers, viz:--President, col. Smith--Members, lieutenant colonels Pike and Milton; Majors MacRea, Russel, Nicholas, Bowyer and Barrington; captains Wallace, Atkinson, Morgan, Bankhead and Piatt.
Since the above was put in type, we have conversed with a gentleman, who left Baton Rouge on Saturday last; he says, that lieutenant col. Sparks had been honorably acquitted by the court, but that the sentence had been sent on to the President of the U. S. that col. Cushing had arrived, and his trial was pending.
We are also informed, that lieutenant col. Pike has been arrested by order of Gen. Hampton.
