TUNNEL OPEN TO G. STREET

The U. P. tunnel now presents an opening from the north portal clear through to G street. The lower drift has been taken out but a short distance, but the dirt can now all be handled from the north portal if desired with the big steam shovel.

The water sluice through the pipe to the gulch is working well, but more water will be secured for the job when the big shovel gets under full headway. There is plenty of water and Harriman's representative, William Welch, was this morning arranging with the city for still further pressure to carry the dirt down even more rapidly than at present.
