Health Dep't Unit To Come Here

A new marine unit of the Department of Health will be based in Kodiak, and will be ready for service in the spring, the department's publication, Alaska Health, announces in its November issue.

A remodeled 120-foot self-propelled barge has been purchased by the department and will serve the Aleutian Islands, Bristol Bay area and the Arctic coast.

The barge will contain an X-ray unit and complete dental and medical laboratory equipment.

Its professional staff will consist of a physician, dental technician, nurse, combination lab and X-ray technician and a stenographer. It will be manned by a 6-man crew.
