The partially decomposed body of a 48-year-old man, who had not been seen by his neighbors since last Monday, was discovered Saturday in a house where he had lived alone, police reported.
The man, identified as Rosben Burman, 48, of 420 Forrest Way., N. E. was found by two people visiting the house next door, after affects of decomposition were noticed at approximately 2 p. m.
Det. Sgt. J. E. Helms and Det. W. D. Browning said the body was discovered in a small bed room at the rear of the house. The remains were found in a single bed "in a badly decomposed condition," officers said.
Melvin Poe, 50, of 253 School St.. N. E., and Miss Betty Dennis, 25, 557 Currier St., reported the death They were visiting the home of Mrs. Luella Jenkins, 34, of 425 Forrest Way., N.E
They were quoted as saying they investigated after noticing the stench. They told police they forced open a door to the house to gain admittance.
Officers quoted neighbors as saying Burman had last been seen Monday night and was not known to have been sick. However. officers said there were no signs of a fight or struggle at the scene. The body was taken to Sellers Brothers Funeral Home. The Coroner's office will take over the case, officers reported
