Only Four Defendants Before Recorder Clements for Session
Cases involving drunkenness and also reckless driving were heard before Recorder R. E. Clements in county court today.
Thomas Evans, white, was charged with reckless driving and adjudged not guilty. Jarvis Brandon, colored, was charged with reckless driving and found guilty. He was given four months on the roads, to be suspended on payment of $100 to the clerk of the court to be turned over to Thomas Evans, and on payment of the costs. The cars driven by the two were involved in a collision.
J. A. Foythress, white man, was charged with being drunk and offering whisky to others, and prayer for judgment was continued on payment of the costs. Another offense occurring at the same place involved H. B. Houghtaling, white, also charged with being drunk, and with possessing liquor and offering it to others. He was fined $10 and costs.
