South Deering Defends The Bill Of Rights

SOUTH DEERING (Chicago, Ill.) BULLETIN

The South Deering Bulletin has been growing daily until, as most of the readers now know, it has become an international publication. The most optimistic person could not have believed this growth possible when it became necessary for us to begin publishing this paper in order to have the truth published.

The growth has made it impossible for us to publish our paper out of our little office any longer, and starting next week our paper will have a new home. Separate offices are being provided for the Editor and the members of his staff. This will mean a more efficient paper and better coverage of the news for all of our readers.

The South Deering Activities Committee will also be moving into the new quarters at 2601 East 106th Street. Thus, despite the attempts to destroy the Constitutional Rights of our people, both the right of freedom of the press and freedom of assembly have been preserved.

Moving with us is our Protestant Church office which will hold all its mid-week activities at this same address. Most of us know how Rev. Vernon and his little flock were denied the right to worship with the freedom of their convictions before they banded together in this little church group to preserve religious freedom.

South Deering has had to fight hard to preserve the Bill of Rights for its community and the fight is not over! There are still those in our City that would deny us these rights. There are those who would, if they could, destroy our freedom of speech, our freedom of the press, our freedom of assembly, our freedom to worship God, and our other freedoms.

In many of our ears still rings the words of the armed guard of thugs dressed in police uniform ordering us to stop talking to our neighbors, to get off our own front porches, to move on, or denying us the right to go home or go to work.

The South Deering Bulletin will continue to print these stories as they happen and not colored by the political expediency of any pressure group.

We are expanding our operations and will do what we can to preserve for all our readers their rights.
