LABOR DAY LIGHTLY OBSERVED.
Closing of Banks and Offices Its Only Recognition.
To-day is Labor day. About the only observance in Savannah will be the closing of the banks, public offices and the exchanges and perhaps a few business houses. There will be no parade.
The last parade of the Labor Federation was several years ago. The holiday has been observed in some way, however, nearly every year until now. In the North and West it is one of the most widely celebrated holidays of the year. In the South the labor organizations are not as strong and the parades make a minor show.
