Extract of a letter from Surinam, 26th January, 1799.

"The first eight that were landed at Surinam, are reduced to two, Marignais, Trouchon, Bourdon, La Villeharnois, Rovére, Brothier are dead: Pichegru and Barthelemi, have escaped. Barbé Marbois and LaFond Ladebat have survived and resisted the dreadful contagion. Both have been very sick, and have anxiously solicited for a trial. Out of 308, who were last landed, more than half have died in less than five months, all the remainder are exceedingly indisposed, details of their situation, would shock the feelings of the most inhuman."
