An extraordinary robbery occurred in the suburbs of St. Louis on the night of the 8th inst. An old gentleman named T. F. January, and his wife, were robbed by five robbers, who drove to the house in an open carriage. They went directly to Mr. January's room, woke him and his wife, and then, with threats, commanded silence. Four of the party then seated themselves and commenced a game of euchre, which lasted two hours, at intervals of which the fashions were discussed, and conjectures hazarded upon the winner in the forthcoming Laclede race. At the conclusion, a lunch, drawn from the larder of Mr. J., was partaken of, and washed down in bumpers to the health and long life of the cook, to whose culinary skill they were indebted for the treat, when, leaving two of their number on guard, the other three visited the different rooms, collecting the silver plate and other valuables, not forgetting to search the pockets of their hosts for greenbacks, nor the dressing-case of his lady for the jewelry, all of which was packed up and deposited in the carriage. Then they bade their suffering hosts good-bye, and soon were out of sight.
