DR. AND MRS. B. R. BRAZEAL AND DR. AND MRS. ROBERT H. BRISBANE have been selected by an administrative committee at Morehouse College to receive European travel awards of $2,500.00 per couple of 1955. Both couples will spend the summer in travel and informal study in continental Europe and in the British Isles.
Dr. Brazeal, who is dean of Morehouse and professor of economics, and Mrs. Brazeal, who is alumnae secretary of Spelman College plan to land in a Mediterranean port and to visit Italy, Switzerland, France, England, and such other British Isles as time will permit. They hope to be able also to visit one or two of the Scandinavian countries. They will be accompanied in their travels by their daughters, Ernestine and Aurelia.
Dean Brazeal will be interested especially in his contacts abroad in problems relating to economics and administration. He will visit some of the major universities to observe their administrative set-ups.
Dr. Brisbane, who is associate professor of political science at Morehouse, and Mrs. Brisbane plan to spend approximately 11 weeks in Europe, with three weeks in London, one week in Yugoslavia (primarily in Belgrade), and three weeks in Rome. During the remaining four weeks, they expect to visit briefly Switzerland, Holland, and France, with about four days in Paris.
These generous travel grants are made possible by a friend of Morehouse who prefers to remain anonymous. Last summer two other Morehouse couples, Professor and Mrs. A. Russell Brooks and Dr. and Mrs. E. B. Williams, traveled in Europe on the initial grants of this friend. This year the same friend is giving $2,500.00 for a Morehouse student to study and travel in Europe for a year. William Guy has been selected. He is a junior from Little Rock, Ark.
