ROBBER IN RENO
A tall, slim, dark-complexioned man in gray clothes attempted to force an entrance into the residence of Charles Coffin on Elm street last night about a quarter to 9 o'clock, but was frightened away.
The Coffin family had gone to the theater, as had Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Tranter, who lived next door.
Miss Foote was in the Tranter house caring for a child. She saw the fellow skulking about the house and telephoned for the police, but could not raise any of the officers.
She then went across to the Coffin house, but the marauder slinked away into the shadows and she returned to the Tranter house.
When the two families returned home they found a dog belonging to Frank Morton, who resides across the street, dying on the lawn in the Coffin yard. It had been poisoned.
