Hitherto both theoretical and practical mechanics have contended that it was an impossibility to invent a machine that would multiply the power of an engine or motor, but Mr. Bromiley claims most emphatically that he has solved this problem, and that by applying the new law of mechanics which he has discovered the multiplication of power becomes an accomplished fact.

Mr. Bromiley, who works at his trade in the factory of the Bridesburg Manufacturing Company, was seen at his residence last evening by a Record reporter. He said: "I am sure that I have really discovered a new mechanical law and that its application will be the greatest possible success. I have been an inventor and practical machinist since I was a boy, and first made this discovery about four years ago, but only in the last six months have I been able to apply it successfully."

In reply to a question as to the nature of the law, Mr. Bromiley said that at this time he could not disclose it, but that its application consisted in combining the action of the screw, the inclined plane and one other form which he refused to mention, and that the result of this combination was the multiplication of any power applied to it. He has a model almost completed, with which he says he can in an hour prove the truth of his claim to any practical machinist.

Like many other inventors, Mr. Bromiley has reaped but little fortune from the success of his devices. He invented the pulsometer pump and the system of brakes now used on the freight cars of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, but in both instances was made to suffer by getting into the hands of unscrupulous patent lawyers, who managed to capture the oysters of his inventions, leaving him only the shell. He is extremely cautious in regard to his new and great discovery, and says that if any sharpers get the best of him it will be entirely his own fault.
