Full Text
From the Boston Chronicle of the 19th.
THIS DAY is the 29th anniversary of the most memorable and important event, which has marked the blood-stained annals of the British nation. The 19th of April, '75, forms a new epocha in the history of mankind. From this auspicious day man began to think. Independent of prescription and authority, human reason has at length assumed her natural and imprescriptible rights. At this illustrious period an entire new order of things commenced, in opposition to the united power of foreign despotism and of home-spun traitors. Americans! swear by the memory of those victims, who sealed the charter of your freedom and independence by their blood, that you will never alienate that rich inheritance to the arts of pretended and insidious. friends, which you had bravely rescued from the fatal grasp of your mortal and unceasing enemy. The names of our honest yeomen, who fell in the battle of Lexington, will be held in glorious remembrance, as long as the love of liberty shall remain.
