LATEST FROM THE ARMY.

The N. O. Picayune of August 1st, publishes a General Order dated at Matamoros, July 21. From this it appears that the War Department have directed the Louisiana Volunteers, composing Gen. Smith's brigade, the St. Louis Legion, and three Alabama companies to be mustered out of the service. Of the last, Capt. Desha's company arrived in New Orleans on the 1st inst.

Cols. Peyton and Featherston's regiments and a battalion from Alabama, are not recognized as legally in the service, and they are to be mustered out.

Most of the troops had gone to Camargo, and before the 1st they were probably all there with Gen. Taylor.
