CABARET TARIFF OKAYED
Washington, D.C. - The Senate Finance Committee (December 8) approved the House increase of the liquor tax from $6 to $9 per proof gallon.
In addition to approving the liquor tax increase, the committee accepted the following rates as adopted by the House of Representatives:
Beer: From $7 per barrel to $8.
Wines: Still wine under 14%, 10c a gallon to 15c; 14 to 21%, 40c a gallon to 60c a gallon; over 21%, $1.00 a gallon to $2.00; sparkling wine, 10c a half pint to 15c; other wines, 5c a half pint to 10c.
