FROM FRIDAY'S DAILY.

THE BOY AND THE HOE.

Any number of conclusions may be drawn after reading and carefully reflecting on these two paragraphs:

"A boy who can run five miles playing baseball and never feel the least bit tired, will, in most cases, become almost exhausted after working with a garden hoe for fifteen minutes. Ever notice it?"—McKinney Courier-Gazette.

"Yes. And some of us have experienced it as well as noticed it. The ways of the boy are past finding out. Pay him for manipulating the 'garden hoe' and he will do fairly well. The more he enjoys the 'five miles run' in a baseball game with no further reward than the fun he gets out of it the better he will use the garden hoe for the little reward in money he expects to get. Let the boys have plenty of play. At the same time teach them that there is money in work."—Fort Worth Star.
