Yesterday a Sloop arrived in 12 Days from Fort Pownall, at Penobscot, with an Express to the Governor; and we hear that the Penobscot Indians have sent to desire Peace, and to know upon what Terms they might come in. That a Deputation of five came in, and leaving one of their Number at the Fort as an Hostage, they are gone back to their Tribe to bring in their Wives and Families to settle near the Fort, agreeable to the Proposals made to them last Summer by the Governor when he was there.

It is remarkable that the Winter at Penobscot has been very moderate, but little cold Weather, and very little Snow.
