Full Text

Letters from Warsaw, dated May 21, advise, that Zarembe, in whom the Confederates placed very great confidence, assures us, that the chiefs of the Confederacy, who lately went to Constantinople, and who, on their return from thence, took up their residence, in the French Ambassador's house at Vienna, undertook that journey solely to inform the Porte, that the present Grand Vizir, Musun Oglu, had actually been bought off by the Russians, and gave the strongest proofs imaginable, that if the Porte did not remove him from his high office, he would, in a very short time, sell the whole Turkish army under his command; or what was still more to be feared, he would make a most ignominious, and disadvantageous peace. Upon this information, the Polish chieftains abovementioned were promised, before they quitted Constantinople, that this Grand Vizir Musun Oglu, should very soon be deprived of his high office; and they have this day given out a report, that they have received certain intelligence, that the Grand Signor has sent the silken cord to Musun Oglu, and that Caimakan Aga having been immediately declared Grand Vizir in his stead, instantly attacked Count Romanzow, and defeated that Russian General.
