THEY ADVERTISE ADVERTISING
"Publicity Users Spend $800,000 Yearly Doing It," Says W. C. D'Arcy.

"Advertisers spend $800,000 yearly advertising advertising," said W. C. D'Arcy, president of the D'Arcy Advertising Company of St. Louis, speaking yesterday as a representative of the Associated Advertising Clubs of the World.

"We want to make the consumers appreciate every man's advertising, no matter where they see it," said Mr. D'Arcy. "We also want to dissipate the contention that advertising increases the high cost of living."

No particular medium is advocated, Mr. D'Arcy said. The campaign is not directed at advertising experts and advertisers, but at the public.

"We want to do away with price comparisons and the use of bargains as an inducement," said the speaker. "A man can't sell a $1.50 value for 40 cents and stay in business."
