Podoley, Clark End Careers With 51 TDs

Two of Michigan's small colleges are eligible for bowl invitations, but they'll probably play in separate engagements, in event they receive and accept an invitation.

Both boast two of the state's best known footballers in Jim Podoley of Central Michigan College, and Nate Clark, of Hillsdale College.

Featured as their team's leading offensive stars during the past four years, both finished their careers with 51 touchdowns.

Six TDs for Podoley

Podoley collected all of his team's points Saturday against Eastern Illinois in a 38-7 rout.

Clark, although unable to surpass Podoley, scored both of his team's touchdowns, as Hillsdale defeated Lewis College of Illinois, 12-0.

Clark Tally 144 Points

Clark led the nation in scoring last year with 144 points.

Podoley led Michigan scorers in 1954 with 109 points.

The Aluminum Bowl, to be inaugurated at Hot Springs, Ark., could upset the 'hope bucket' and book the two Michigan teams for the initial encounter.

What About Pros?

Bill Kelly is coach at Central Michigan and Frank Waters at Hillsdale.

Will the professional elevens shoot for either or both of these players next season?

Who knows. Both have been scouted for the past two years by several scouts of the National Football League but their recommendations to their bosses have not been made public.
