Full Text

To the Farmers' Boys.—Farmers' boys devote your evenings to reading, and not only to reading, but to study, and you will acquire a knowledge you will feel rich in possession of; you will acquire a home attachment, and enjoy a home felicity you would not exchange for all the hilarity of public amusements, and you can obtain a rank in learned society, far less embarrassing than the vicissitudes and perplexities of a public career.

Do you wish to study, or to review as the case may be, Grammar, History, Biography, Mathematics, Philosophy, Astronomy, Physiology, &c., follow the practice of self-made men, study at your own firesides, and especially during the time that nature herself is giving you in the long winter evenings?
