Full Text

PAVING CONTRACTED.—The city Council have examined all the bids for paving High Street, and they were as follows: All per square surface yard, fourteen inches thick of good limestone, A. C. Lister, $1.33; Peter Nelson, $1.50; J. D. Long, $1.70; Frank Castle, $2.25; King & Carlin, $1.55. The bid of Mr. Lister was referred to Solicitor Bolton to prepare a contract and bond, which will be submitted to the Council this evening. This will make the cost of paving quite small comparatively, and we shall hope to see Mr. Lister push that job along at a lively rate, so that we shall have the power of good example and good work to bring about other extensions of this much needed improvement
