Full Text

[From the Chicago Republican.]

Truly, this is the age of political scrubs. While Illinois is being buttonholed to send Logan to the United States Senate, Nebraska is being bored to perform a similar office for Mr. Thayer, a man who, if possible, knows less than Logan, and is, if possible, less fitted to be a Senator. Thayer was able to work himself into a Senatorship a few years ago, when Nebraska was admitted as a State. This was bad enough, but that he should now be re-elected seems preposterous. If Nebraska can't improve on Thayer, she had better ask to be reduced to a territorial condition, and afterward reconstructed.
