LONDON, July 14.

Extract of a Letter from on board the Black Prince Privateer, Capt. Chrichton, now at Plymouth, dated July 10.

" On the 1st Instant, about five in the morning, we saw two ships, to whom we gave chase, and in two hours could plainly discover one of them to be a large French East Indiaman, the other an English vessel, who was lying with her topsails a back, out of gun shot of the French ship ; upon which we threw out our signals for our consort the George privateer, of London, to make all the sail they could. and come up ; but not complying with our signals immediately, we resolved to attack the enemy ourselves, and accordingly, by nine o'Clock being within gun shot, we began to engage her, which gave the St. George time to come up and second us. The enemy returned both our fires very warmly. In the mean time we found the other sail to be the Boscarwen privateer of London, who lay by, but now came under our lee, we being between him and the fire of the French ship, which began to be very hot. Two other ships came down to us about the same time, which we were extremely sorry to find (the Shark of London, and Isaac of Bristol) About two o'clock the Monieur struck, and, to him justice, behaved with great bravery for Four hours and 6 minutes. She is called the Prince of Conti, M. la Mott, commander, mounts 25 guns, and carries 400 men, richly laden. Her cargo Merchants at Naples. Leghorn, and London, that this rich Fleet would have been taken by the French, who had no less than five Men of War, two of 74, two of 64, and one of 54, cruising for them ; but by the Skill of the Commander who conducted them, his constant Care and Diligence in attending them, they are at last arrived safe to the great Joy of this opulent City."
