EXCURSION.

July 31—Yesterday afternoon, a number of the officers of the brigade of artillery, in their uniform, and a great number of ladies, took an excursion in the steam boat Franklin, which was handsomely decorated with colors for the occasion. The vice president of the U. States, Mr. De Neuville, the French minister, Com. Chauncey, and other gentlemen of distinction were of the party.—The boat moved from the battery with enlivening airs from the band of the brigade, and in passing the town on each side, afforded an interesting and agreeable scene to the inhabitants. No recreation can be more delightful and healthy in this hot weather, than such excursions on board our commodious steam boats.
