Mrs. Peete Blames Wave Of Crime For Verdict Of Guilty

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 11. - Psychology and the "crime wave" were blamed today by Mrs. Louise L. Peete for her conviction on a charge of having murdered Jacob Charles Denton.

Mrs. Peete is in jail here awaiting the result of arguments next Wednesday on her motion for a new trial.

Had the psychology been different I believe I would not have been convicted," she said. "There has been a crime wave and the public is impatient. The public wants convictions, so the jury found me guilty. A short time ago, when sympathy was with women and there was not so much crime, I would have been exonerated. I am sure. As it is, I am a victim of psychology."
