at Indiana Harbor.
LEAVES PITIFUL LETTER
Special to the Indianapolis Journal.
HAMMOND, Ind., Feb. 21.—A nineteen-year-old bookkeeper named Walter Scheunman, son of prominent Tolleston parents, blew his brains out at Indiana Harbor last night because his suit was spurned by the woman he loved, who was much older than he. Scheunman left a pitiful note behind, telling of his motive for the deed.
He was morose during the day, and when his employer heard a shot in his basement in the afternoon he thought young Scheunman was shooting rats, but when he went to the cellar he saw a smoking revolver in Scheunman's hand and the boy was dead.
His remains are in a local morgue and the inquest is to be held to-morrow.
