MORTALITY AT SIERRA LEONE.

Extract of a letter dated,
Sierra Leone, May 31.

"That dreadful scourge, the yellow fever, had been brought into the colony by the ship Caroline, from the Mediterranean; and out of a population of about 110 Europeans, nearly eighty have fallen victims to this dreadful disease: upwards of 250 blacks have also died with it. Our streets are literally deserted. Among the deaths are the following: Deputy Assistant Commissary-General Brown, T. O'Meara, and J. O. N. Walsh, Esqrs. and Mr. Beck; the three latter gentlemen had been many years in this country."

"While writing this, I have just learned that our worthy Chief Justice was taken with the black vomit last night, after attending the funeral of Mr. Walsh, and that he cannot survive but a few hours."
