INTEND TO DEVELOP POWER

SEEK SUPPLY FROM ALPINE AND AMERICAN FORK.

C. Garff & Son of Logan, who presented a formal proposition to Mayor Richard P. Morris last Saturday to furnish the city with an electric light plant of 500 arc light capacity, made application yesterday at State Engineer Doremus' office for water power with which to operate the proposed plant. Two applications were made. One was for fifty second feet of the water in Alpine creek, or Dry creek in the mountains above Lehi and American Fork. The Logan men intend to pipe the stream about 9,500 feet and expect to develop 1,000 horse-power toward operating the plant. Alpine or Dry creek is a small stream, and during the months of August and September contains hardly any water, and for several summers past has gone entirely dry. It is stated that the promoters intend to use the water in the early part of the year when the water is high. With the electricity generated from this source they expect to furnish the smelters power and Murray with lights.

They also applied for 200 second feet of the water flowing in American Fork canyon. The promoters have planned to take the water out of the canyon in two different places, about 150 second feet out of the main stream and the remaining fifty second feet out of Deer Park creek which is a branch of the American Fork stream. The pipe lines will be several thousand feet long. They are to be connected near the site where the plant is to be built. This project is expected to furnish 1,500 horse-power, and will be directly connected with the municipal lighting of the city.
