WASHINGTON. Oct. 27.- (AP) - The Agriculture department had a cheerful word today for ham-and-egg breakfasters.
It said that while ham prices have advanced considerably since price controls were lifted, the price of eggs should be lower by the time ham become available in any appreciable quantity.
A downturn in egg prices will come after November, the department said. By that time supplies of pork products are expected to be up sharply.
Two factors are expected to pull down egg prices-the availability of more meat, for which eggs are used as a substitute in period of shortage. and a seasonal increase in egg production.
The department said egg prices are expected to fall early next year to levels at which the government is required by law to support them.
