Full Text

We learn from New-Orleans, that Brown, Mr. Jefferson's Collector, who absconded with 150,000 dollars of the publick money, after arriving at the Island of Jamaica, bought bills on London to the above amount; after which he engaged his passage for England, but the vessel left him. Thus disappointed, he offered the bills for sale considerably under par, but a purchaser could not be found. Brown justifies himself by declaring that the 150,000 dollars which he took, was just the sum out of which his government cheated him.
