State Legislature.

SENATE.

Monday, Feb. 19.

The bill to incorporate St. John's Church, in Sutton, passed to be engrossed. The bill in addition to an act to unite the Blackstone Canal Company, passed to be enacted.

Tuesday, Feb. 20.

A resolve from the House, appropriating money for the Bunker Hill Monument Association, was read.

Wednesday, Feb. 21.

The Lottery bill was again discussed. The blanks were filled, so as to make the penalty for a first offence not more than $200 nor less than 100; and for the second not more than $300, nor less than $200.—The bill then passed to be engrossed.

A report on the subject of the resolution relative to an alteration in the Constitution of the President from devolving in any event on the House of Representatives, declaring that it is not expedient to take any further measures in relation to the subject, was accepted.

Thursday, Feb. 22.

The following engrossed bills passed to be enacted: Concerning the pay of the General Court; to regulate the pilotage into New-Bedford; to provide for payment to Worcester County; to alter the time of holding the Dukes County Courts; to prevent the taking of fish in Congamond Pond, in Southwick; to incorp. the Mass. Eye and Ear Infirmary and also to the Mutual Fire Insur. Co. in Springfield; and to establish the Hoosac Mountain Turnpike.

Resolves.—To appropriate money to the Bunker Hill Monument Association; and a resolve on the petition of Elisha Hammond, for the support of his deaf and dumb children, passed both branches.

A resolve passed both Houses for the appointment of Commissioners on Internal Improvements.

Mr. Austin, from the Judiciary Committee, reported resolves for the appointment of Commissioners to prepare an Insolvent Law.

Friday, Feb. 23.

A Message was received from his Excellency the Governor, transmitting to the Legislature copies of a communication from the Secretary of State of the U. S. covering a renewed complaint of the British Minister resident at Washington, made at the instance of the Lieut. Governor of His Majesty's province of New-Brunswick, of the proceedings under the authority of this Commonwealth and the State of Maine, in laying out Townships and marking Roads, upon the territory in dispute on the N. Eastern boundary of the U. S. referred to the Committee on Public Lands.

Saturday, Feb. 24.

The petition of the Selectmen of Millbury; was referred to the Committee on Accounts.

Mr. Cushing, from the Committee on the subject, reported the following resolve, viz.—

Resolved, That it is not expedient to take any further measures in relation to the communication from Georgia, upon the subject of the Creek controversy. Read and accepted.

Monday, Feb. 26.

Ordered, That the Committee on Education be instructed to inquire into the expediency of extending the State provision for the education of Deaf and Dumb persons at the Hartford Asylum.
