BOSTON (NNPA) Prince Hall Masons, at their annual conference of Grand Masters held in Prince Hall Masonic Temple here, viewed many of the articles owned and used by Prince Hall, founder of Masonry among colored people in the United States, and his brothers.
On exhibition in a special room is the original charter issued to Prince Hall and his brothers by the Grand Lodge of England in 1784. This was the instrument which authorized them to organize.
Also in the exhibit are the chair used by Prince Hall, other chairs, a gavel, table, and a complete set of aprons used by the officers of the first colored Masonic lodge in the United States. The charter is hermetically sealed in glass.
Thirty Grand Masters and a large delegation of Past Grand Master Masons, members of higher degrees, Shriners, and Eastern Stars, Heroines of Jericho and the Daughters of Isis visited the grave of Prince Hall on Copp's Hill Burial Grounds in North End, Boston.
