Both are Americans, and the man, who is a cripple, formerly lived at Seattle. The boy is too young to tell much of a story, but maintains that he once lived in Michigan. He says Bellinger treated him brutally and says he would be happier among the Indians. The idea that Bellinger is the child's father has been abandoned by the police who now think there is some reason for putting the child out of the way.
