Philip Dahl of Owensboro was in town last week.
Prof. W. Alexander went to Central City last Friday, returning Saturday.
Miss Ella Lewis of Blue Ball, Hardin county, is visiting her sister Mrs. J. H. Weller.
Miss Mamie Anderson spent a few days last week in Rockport visiting relatives and friends.
Capt. Henry McHenry of Owensboro arrived in town Sunday evening and left Monday for Louisville.
Mrs. J. W. Ford returned last week from Livermore, where she has been visiting friends and relatives.
Rev. A. B. Cabaniss, an eminent Baptist minister, and agent for the Western Recorder, was in town last week.
Mr. J. M. Ruby of McLean county, was in town Sunday on the hunt of a stolen horse. See his notice in this paper.
Mrs. J. P. Sandefur left last Saturday for Pleasant Ridge, where she will remain during the present week visiting relatives.
Mr. J. H. Condict, who has been ill so long at this place, is improving, and his friends now think him entirely out of danger.
Mrs. Dr. Thomas of Elizabethtown, and Mrs. Alice Cloyd of Illinois, arrived in town Monday evening. They are at Mrs. Lucy Eidson's.
Mr. Kernie Bowman is in town for a stay of a few days. He will go from here to Owensboro, where he will make his home in the future.
J. M. Shaneman, Esq., with the firm of H. Herrmann & Co., log men of Evansville, was in town this week in the interest of his firm.
Dr. T. C. Watkins of Owensboro, spent Sunday in town. He came to see his nephew White Eidson, who is very ill at the residence of his mother.
Messrs. R. J. Morris and Tom Baird, clerks in Rowe's New Store, will leave next week for a trip to the Mammoth Cave. They will be gone several days.
Mrs. Jennie D. Alexander spent last week in Central City visiting her mother, Mrs. Clark, who has been very ill for some time. She returned home last Saturday.
Mr. Geo. H. Roach, one of our most highly esteemed boyhood friends, called to see us last Thursday. He showed his appreciation of the old days by subscribing for the HERALD.
H. A. Lindley is in town, and will probably locate here for the season. He has recently returned from Philadelphia where he attended Jefferson Medical College the past season. He is preparing for an M. D. He is an excellent young man and has a bright future before him for a young man of intelligence, and energy like he possesses is sure of success.
Frank Guenther and Dep Smith, commercial solicitors, are back from a business trip to Hartford. They helped break picture frames and looking glasses at the Barrett fire. -Owensboro Post.
Miss Etta Montague of Cromwell, who has been visiting Miss Murray of Pleasant Ridge for several weeks returned to her home last Sunday. She was the guest of Miss Josie Duke, Saturday.
Misses Rebecca Dillman, Lizzie Iler, Mattie Fulkerson, and Mrs. Rebecca Vaught and Mrs. Alice Kimbley, accompanied by Mr. J. R. Iler of Crystal, Tenn., paid this office an appreciated call last Friday.
Mr. J. G. Finnie, representing the Home Insurance Company, was in town Monday and yesterday. He came as special agent of Barbee & Castleman to adjust the loss of the senior editor of this paper.
Fred Roberts, Esq., of Owensboro, made us forget the cares of the world for the nonce by spending a half hour in our office last Saturday. Mr. Roberts is one of the most genial fellows in the world and it does one good to be with him.
Jim Tom Moore, the popular clerk of the Hartford House, vacates his throne next Saturday. He will go to the Ohio county Sulphur Springs where he will spend several weeks. Jim Tom is a great favorite with the traveling public and will be very much missed from his old place. Our best wishes go with him.
Mr. Jesse E. Fogle and wife left Monday for Casey county to visit Mr. Fogle's father, whom they have not seen for five years. They will be absent several weeks. They stopped over in Louisville yesterday, where Mr. Fogle attended the meeting of the chairmen of the various Democratic County Committees of the Fourth District, which was held to determine whether a convention to nominate a candidate for Congress should be held, and if so, when and where.
Mrs. Larkin Griffin is still quite ill.
