Shall the Decision of the Supreme Court of the United States Stand?—A case which will test the respect which the Courts of Illinois will give to the recent decision of the Supreme Court of the United States, in the Dred Scott case, is about to be tried at Chicago. The only information which we have is contained in the following despatch from that city, dated July 7: 'This morning, the case of Mitchell's negro against Lamar was called in the United States Circuit Court for Illinois. This is a suit to recover damages for assault. By request of Judge Drummond, the case will be argued on demurrer to the plea that a negro is not entitled to standing in the Court, the Dred Scott decision notwithstanding. Judges McLean and Drummond are on the bench.'—St. Louis Repub.
