New Orleans, Nov. 9.
"I am Chas. G. Rybolt and I was one time manager of the Lackawanna Springs and Hotel Company, Clear Water, Fla. I discovered it after thinking a long, long time."
This discovery appeared to ease the mind of the man who said he was Rybolt as he lay on a bed in a lodging house in the French section of this city yesterday morning, convalescent from a blow on the forehead which he says he remembered he sustained while in a sleeping car which he boarded at Clear Water, Fla., several days ago.
Rybolt says he remembered nothing until he regained consciousness in a New Orleans hotel.
Rybolt is "the man of mystery."
Fellow lodgers say he had pawned much of his clothing and several old coins, but that a remittance came late yesterday, after which he quietly packed his few belongings and quietly disappeared.
"I also remember that I have a wife in Clear Water," said he, "and she must be with her father, William McGary, of 1620 Chase street, Cincinnati. I know that my people for the last few days thought me dead. But after my memory returned I sent telegrams to my relatives and have since learned that my father-in-law is in Clear Water. C. C. McGary, of Cincinnati, is my brother-in-law."
Inquiry at a hotel named by Rybolt developed the fact that he spent some days there in October, but paid his bill before leaving.
